Meet Dwight,

This is Dwight who is approximately 6 1/2 years old and is being fostered in Urbana, Illinois.  Dwight is looking for a special home to match his special needs. He has had one eye surgically removed, and he is losing his sight in the other eye. His depth perception is off with the missing eye. Interested potential adopters can email his foster mom at ebaxter2010@hotmail.com to learn more about Dwight.  If you have general questions on our adoption process, you will find more information on our website at https://www.comebyebcrescue.org/info/adoption or send an email to comebyebcr@hotmail.com.

Dwight needs to be lifted in and out of a vehicle, but once he's in the car, he seems to enjoy the ride. He likes to put his head between the front seats to be petted. Dwight is still working on the housebreaking stuff. (He would do better in a home with no carpeting.) Dwight has made some progress since coming into foster care. He has learned his name, and he comes when he is ca lled. He no longer hides in my yard.

Dwight is easily leashed with a slip lead or a clip lead. He is a gentle walker. I can actually write a legible check at the vet's office, while holding Dwight's leash! Dwight is a special needs dog with limited vision. He would do better in a home with limited steps and a fenced backyard . Dwight is calm around my kitties, and he's okay with my dogs. He doesn't really want to hang out with them. Dwight would be an ideal companion for a retired couple or person. (Update 4/2020)

Dwight is becoming more confident walking on his leash, in spite of his vision concerns. He has become very patient about having a clip lead attached to his martingale collar or having a slip lead slipped over his head.
Dwight is a good eater. He takes treats nicely. He understands he must enter his "condo" to eat. He often likes to retreat to his condo, instead of interacting with his foster canine siblings.
I have never heard Dwight bark, so he would probably do well living in a condominium. He is calm around cats. He prefers quiet mellow dogs. He would be fine as an only dog. Dwight does not tear up his bedding or other household items. He is still struggling with housebreaking, but has made some strides.
Dwight does not have good recall. He will hide in the underbrush. He does not dig or climb fences. He would do fine with a four foot high chain link fence. Dwight doesn't really want to be outside too long. He has no interest in a ball. He prefers the comforts of indoor living.
Dwight would make a sweet quiet companion for a retired person or couple or someone who works from home. He is not seeking an active household.

Dwight was found as a stray in Illinois and taken to a local animal shelter.  No one came for him so Come Bye was asked to help.

Dwight is approximately 6 years old and as you can see he only has one eye.  Unfortunately, the sight in his one eye is not 20/20.  Dwight is unsure of his surroundings as he moves about the world.  He walks like a Clydesdale, because of his uncertainty and to be truthful, it's rather charming.

Thank you for your support.
